It is our understanding that parents at times can feel guilty for leaving their little ones while they go to work each day and feel they miss out on precious moments.
We have a simple solution to this – MyNurseryPal. You can now get real-time updates on your child.
Log in as many times as you want to get updates and reassurance about how your little one is doing. You can also communicate with us.
When your child starts with us, you’ll receive details of how to log in to your secure MyNurseryPal page.
This digital software allows our staff to update you with a timeline of your child’s day. This includes:
- your child’s daily activities
- sleep times
- nappy changes
- …and photos so you don’t miss out!
At The Old Station Nursery, mealtimes are an important time for children to interact and socialize with their peers whilst developing confidence and independence.
In the mornings between 7.15 am – 8.15am a buffet breakfast is offered, followed by a mid-morning snack, hot lunch at 12noon, and a mid-afternoon snack.
Our team updates My Nursery Pal each day to show you what your child has eaten throughout the day.
Our experienced, on-site cook prepares hot, delicious lunches daily using fresh, high-quality ingredients from local suppliers and will happily cater for any dietary requirements or allergies that your child may have.
Our carefully planned menus are rotated on a 4 weekly basis and are available to view in each room in the nursery.
Sylvia’s curry is a favourite within the nursery!
News & Home learning
Parents can review our News & Blog section for updates about our nursery and what we’ve been up to in the Baby & Wobbler Room, Toddler Room, Junior & Senior Playgroups and After-schools.
We will regularly post suggestions for activities that follow the curriculum and will help your child develop the skills they need.
We also send out regular newsletters to all our parents informing them about what activities are coming up, any special events or trips and what parents can expect their child to learn that month.
This helps parents feel involved in their child’s day and be able to support and follow up with their learning at home.
Get a copy of our brochure here. In it you will find details about each room, our facilities and our procedures and practices.
What are your fees?
We believe we offer competitive pricing for our day care. If you want to find out more about our fees, please give us a call.
I'm worried about my child not wanting to leave me?
We’ve spent over 20 years helping children and parents feel at ease and settling into the nursery setting. Our loving staff support you and your child to make the transition a smooth and easy one. We also assign a dedicated keyworker for your child, who will ensure they settle in and create a bond with them to make the transition easier. We have a low turnover of staff, which means children get to build long-lasting relationships. Our parents tell us that their children sometimes don’t want to leave!
What activities will my child do?
We do so many activities for the children in each room. Each room creates daily, weekly and monthly plans to ensure the children reach their full potential. Some of the activities include role play, playdough, water play, painting, sensory play and much more! Outdoor play is a part of our daily routine too, and all rooms aim to get outside at least once a day.
You will be kept up to date with what your child is doing through newsletters and MyNurseryPal.
How do I apply for your pre-school?
A government-funded pre-school place has to be applied for through the Education Authority Northern Ireland (EANI) portal. You can find a copy of our admissions criteria on the EANI website.
What if my child suffers with allergies?
We are able to cater for children with all allergies, and our on-site cook is experienced in preparing snacks and meals for children with varying dietary requirements. On special occasions, like birthdays and celebrations, we make sure your child is included with specially made celebratory food as well!
What time do you open and close?
We open at 7.15 am and run a breakfast club where children can enjoy breakfast with us before heading to school or to their rooms in The Old Station. We close at 18:00. If you are unable to collect your child at that time, please contact a member of staff as soon as possible.
How do you communicate with parents?
We send out monthly newsletters to parents informing them of our learning objectives, activities and any events. We also provide daily updates on your child’s day, eating, sleep, nappy changes and photos using the MyNurseryPal app.
What are your COVID-19 procedures?
We continue to evaluate policies and procedures relating to Covid-19 in order to help prevent the spread of the virus. Staff members greet you and your child/ren in the morning and confirm that your child is in good health. We ask that everyone wears a face covering when dropping off and collecting children and ask that only 3 parents wait within the railings. For details of our Covid-19 risk assessment, please call us.
Where do I get the uniform for the playgroups?
James Martin supplies our uniforms for our Junior and Senior Playgroup (and government funded pre-school). Just visit the following link to find our Old Station Polo T-shirts, sweatshirts and other accessories.
